Practicalities

Where am I based?

My counselling room is in Wateringbury, Kent. This is a village 5 miles outside of Maidstone. There is free parking available in the road outside. There are public transport links too.

There are a few steps leading up to my counselling room. Once inside, the counselling room is on the ground floor.

Free initial consultation

Before we begin our counselling sessions, we will have an initial chat over the phone or online. This is a chance for us to talk to each other and for me to get an idea of what's going on for you at the moment, and what has brought you to counselling. This initial chat generally lasts about 20 minutes and is a chance for you to get a feel for how I work, and decide if you'd like to arrange your first session. There is no pressure at all.

What happens at our first session?

Our first full 50 minute session is a chance for you to tell me all about yourself and what it is that you would like to talk about or change. You can get to know me and decide if you would like us to work together. During this session we will usually decide on a focus for any future sessions. We will also talk about whether you want to come for a fixed period of sessions or to leave it open ended.

Do I have to come every week?

We can talk about this at our initial conversation. You can come weekly or fortnightly. Obviously there will be times when one of us needs to miss a session and we will discuss this at the end of each session. We will also talk about what to do if you're unwell and unable to attend.

How many sessions do I have?

We can work to a fixed number of sessions or leave it open ended. We will review the sessions every few weeks to check in and see how you're finding them and to make sure that you're getting what you want and need.

How long are the sessions?

Each session last 50 minutes.

Are the sessions confidential?

Our work is confidential. I will explain more about this during our intial consultation and first session. I manage your data in line with GDPR regulations. More information about this can be found in my GDPR statement.
